Saying No Is A Leadership Skill

DAY 46: 90 Days. 90 Sparks.

Early in my career, I struggled with saying no.
To requests. To meetings. To projects that didn’t align.

I didn’t want to disappoint anyone.
But somewhere along the way, “helpful” turned into “always available”.

Over the years, I’ve learned this:
Every time you say yes to something that doesn’t matter,
you’re saying no to something that does.

Saying no isn’t selfish.
It’s how leaders protect focus, energy, and priorities.

It’s how we honour what we truly value.
And model that clarity for our teams.

So, before saying yes, pause and ask:
Does this align with what matters?
If not, say no… firmly and without guilt.

Because boundaries don’t limit leadership.
They strengthen it.

Today’s Spark:
Every no protects a deeper yes.
