Today, many of us will share thoughtful messages for International Women’s Day.
We will celebrate strength.
We will admire resilience.
We will applaud achievements.
And that’s good.
But here’s something worth reflecting on…
Real respect for women is rarely demonstrated in posts.
It shows up in everyday choices.
It shows up in whether we listen when a woman speaks in a meeting.
Whether we give credit where it’s due.
Whether opportunities are distributed fairly.
Whether ideas are judged on merit… not on who voiced them.
Celebration is easy.
Consistency is harder.
If today’s appreciation disappears tomorrow, then it was never really appreciation. It was just a moment.
A question worth carrying with us beyond today:
What is one behaviour you can change that would make the women around you feel more respected, heard, or supported?
Sometimes meaningful change begins with a single honest question.
Happy International Women’s Day!
