Pressure Reveals Character

Pressure doesn’t build character. It reveals it.

It’s easy to look calm when everything is going our way.

The real test comes when the deadline is looming, something has gone wrong, someone has let us down, or we simply don’t have the answer everyone is expecting from us.

That’s when things get interesting. We see how quickly our composure can disappear. How patient we really are. How we treat people when we’re frustrated. How much control we actually have over ourselves.

People say that pressure builds character. I don’t think it does. The character is already there. Pressure simply takes away some of the polish and gives us a clearer view of what’s underneath.
